New Comment Options and Time Estimates’ Visibility

Hello everyone,

Welcome to ActiveCollab’s February edition of monthly updates! Last time, we discussed batch editing of time records, and this time, we’ll go over some novelties in comment editing options and time estimate visibility.

ActiveCollab 8.0: New Comment Options

The option to edit comments is not that new, as any member can edit their comments in ActiveCollab for half an hour after posting, while Owners and project leaders can edit everyone’s comments at any time.

The new option we’re introducing in the new version regards choosing the length of this editing interval for members and extending it to 8 hours, the entire day, or a week. These limits don’t apply to Owners and project leaders, who will still be able to edit comments.


You’ll also be able to unlock comment editing completely, so people can make changes to what they posted indefinitely. All the edits will be visible and available in the history of changes, where you’ll see who edited what and when.


Another feature that will be available in ActiveCollab 8.0 is appending the contents of a comment to their task. When plenty of information is being exchanged, this option is a savior. All the important files and information will be centralized in the task’s description, so you don’t have to look for them in the discussion below.

ActiveCollab 8.0: Time Estimates’ Visibility

You may already be using time estimates on your projects extensively. They’re a great feature when it comes to planning and giving accurate quotes to your clients! But sometimes, you don’t want everyone to see them.


In ActiveCollab 8.0, you’ll be able to set the default visibility settings for the entire account. It will also be possible to personalize them from project to project.

This way, you’ll be able to choose whether you’d like to let your clients or subcontractors see your team’s estimates or not.

Uptime

ActiveCollab’s uptime in February was 100%, which is how we plan to keep it! Let us know if you ever find the app lagging or if it’s down via email or X. Don’t hesitate to give us your feedback or ask our Support Team for help with any questions!
