ActiveCollab helps you stay up-to-date and keep track of all your projects by sending you Email notifications, Daily report emails, and by showing Bell notifications.
How To Set Up Email Notifications?
- Step 1: Log in to your ActiveCollab account
- Step 2: Click on your profile picture in the top-right corner of the screen
- Step 3: From the dropdown menu, click on Personal Settings
- Step 4: Scroll down to the Notifications section
- Step 5: In the Email Notifications section, click on the button located on the right side
- Step 6: From the dropdown menu, set your notification preferences to:
- Standard: You'll get an email whenever someone @mentions you, assigns you to a task, subtask, or project, and when new comments appear on items you're subscribed to
- Minimum: You'll only get an email when someone @mentions you or assigns you to a task, subtask, or project
- Off: You won't receive any emails. Your updates will only be visible in the app
- Step 7: Changes are automatically saved
How To Enable Browser Notifications?
- Step 1: Log in to your ActiveCollab account
- Step 2: Click on your profile picture in the top-right corner of the screen
- Step 3: From the dropdown menu, click on Personal Settings
- Step 4: Scroll down to the Notifications section
- Step 5: In the Browser Notifications section, click on the button located on the right side
- Step 6: If you wish to enable Browser Notifications, set the button to ON
- Step 7: Changes are automatically saved
Note: If you switch browser, you'll have to enable browser notifications again
How To Disable Browser Notifications?
- Step 1: Log in to your ActiveCollab account
- Step 2: Click on your profile picture in the top-right corner of the screen
- Step 3: From the dropdown menu, click on Personal Settings
- Step 4: Scroll down to the Notifications section
- Step 5: In the Browser Notifications section, click on the button located on the right side
- Step 6: If you wish to disable Browser Notifications, set the button to OFF
- Step 7: Changes are automatically saved
Unread Messages Email
After a period of inactivity, emails are sent to remind you of unread messages.
How To Enable Unread Messages Email?
- Step 1: Log in to your ActiveCollab account
- Step 2: Click on your profile picture in the top-right corner of the screen
- Step 3: From the dropdown menu, click on Personal Settings
- Step 4: Scroll down to the Notifications section
- Step 5: In the Unread Messages Email section, click on the button located on the right side

How to Get Daily Recap Emails?
You can also choose whether you wish to receive Daily Report emails. Every morning at 7 a.m. ActiveCollab will send you an email, telling you what happened yesterday and what tasks are late or due today.

Bell Notifications
In the corner on the right, you will see a Bell notification image, where you will see a badge if you have unread notifications.
How To Access All Bell Notifications?
- Step 1: Log in to your ActiveCollab account
- Step 2: In the top right corner of the screen, click on the bell notification image
- Step 3: Click on View all my updates located at the bottom of the bell notification window
- Step 4: In the My Updates section, all the unread notifications will be bolded with the information about the notification (new comment, mention..)
How To Mark All Bell Notifications as Read?
- Step 1: Log in to your ActiveCollab account
- Step 2: In the top right corner of the screen, click on the bell notification image
- Step 3: Click Mark all as read in the top-right corner of the bell notification screen
Activity
The Activity section in ActiveCollab gives you a chronological stream of everything that’s happening across your projects.
How To Access the Activity Section?
- Step 1: Log in to your ActiveCollab account
- Step 2: From the main navigation bar on the left, click on Activity
- Step 3: Filter the view by:
- Daily - see the activity that occurred today or days before by clicking on the date box next to the view filter
- Weekly - see all activities from the current week or the week before by clicking on the date box next to the view filter
- Monthly - view a full overview of what happened this month or other months by clicking on the date box next to the view filter
What Information Can be Seen in the Activity Section?
- New Tasks - when the task was created, completed or re-opened
- Task Updates - status changes, due dates, assignments
- Comments- on tasks, discussions and notes
- Files - when a new file is uploaded directly from the Files section
- Subtasks - when a new subtask is created, completed or re-opened
- Time Records - only users with the Owner role as well as Project Leaders can see who added the time
Note: Visibility of activity depends on the user's role.
Who Can See What in the Activity Section?
- Owner role - can see all activity in all projects, even if not a part of them
- Member + role - all activity in projects they are a part of (except time records if they are not assigned a Project Leader status)
- Member role - all activity in projects they are a part of (except time records if they are not assigned a Project Leader status)
- Client + role - activity in tasks that are not hidden from them
- Client role - only activity they are directly involved in

- Step 2: From the main navigation bar on the left, click on the My Work section

- Step 1: Log in to your ActiveCollab account
- Step 2: From the Projects page, click on a desired project
- Step 3: Click on the Activity section within a desired project
