A Project Leader in ActiveCollab is a user responsible for managing the people and key actions within a specific project. You'll always know who the Project leader is, as they'll have a crown right next to their name.
Who Can Be a Project Leader?
Only users with Owner, Member+, or Member roles can be assigned as Project Leaders.
Who Can’t Be a Project Leader?
Users with a Client and Client+ role cannot be assigned as Project Leaders.
How To Assign a Project Leader?
- Step 1: Log in to your ActiveCollab account
- Step 2: Open a desired project from the Projects page
- Step 3: Click on the People icon next to the project’s name
- Step 4: Click on the crown icon next to the user’s name
Who Can Assign a Project Leader?
A Project Leader can be assigned by:
- Owner
- Member + ( if they are the creator of that project )
- Member (only if they are the current project leader, they can assign someone else as a leader)
What Can a Project Leader Do?
Project Leaders have additional permissions beyond standard Members:
- Manage project members - add or remove people
- Move/Copy tasks to other projects that they have access to
- Delete and edit tasks and task lists
- Delete and edit other users’ comments
- View, delete, and edit any file in the project
- View, delete, and edit discussions and notes
- View other users’ time entries
- View other users’ expense entries
- View all information in the project’s progress menu bar
How To Change a Project Leader?
- Step 1: Open a desired project
- Step 2: Click on the People icon next to the project’s name
- Step 3: Click on a crown icon next to another user’s name
- Step 4: Once the change has been made, click anywhere on the page to close the window
