Alternative email addresses


What is an alternative email address and what is it used for?

An alternative email address is an email that is not directly linked to your primary ActiveCollab login email, but can be used to connect other services (such as Calendar and Email to Project) with your ActiveCollab account. This allows you to:
  • Verify your identity through connected services using other email addresses that are not linked to your ActiveCollab account.
  • Import external calendar events into your ActiveCollab account using different email addresses.
  • Send messages to projects via the Email to Project feature using addresses other than your primary email address.

How to import a External Calendar using an alternative email address

As explained in the Calendar section of our Help page, you can use an alternative email address connected to your Google, iCloud, or Outlook calendar to import events into your ActiveCollab account. These email addresses from the mentioned services are not linked to your current login email for ActiveCollab. All events will be synchronized and displayed in your main ActiveCollab workspace and associated with your primary ActiveCollab account.

How to send Email to Project from an alternative email address

As described in the Email to Project section of our Help site, you can use an alternative email address — one that is not linked to your ActiveCollab account — to perform project actions via email. This means you don’t have to use only your primary login email for ActiveCollab to send commands for creating tasks, writing comments, and other project-related activities — which is ideal for users who have multiple business or personal email accounts.


How to add an alternative email address

  • Step 1: Click on your profile avatar in the top-right corner.
  • Step 2: From the dropdown menu, select “Personal Settings”.
  • Step 3: On the Personal Settings page, click the “Edit Profile” button in the top-right corner.
  • Step 4: In the pop-up, next to your primary login email, click the “plus (+)” icon.
  • Step 5: In the new field that appears, enter your desired alternative email address.
  • Step 6: Click “Save” at the bottom of the page.



How to change an alternative email address

  • Step 1: Click on your profile avatar in the top-right corner.
  • Step 2: From the dropdown menu, select “Personal Settings”.
  • Step 3: Click “Edit Profile” in the top-right corner of the Personal Settings page.
  • Step 4: In the pop-up window, under “Primary Email”, you can modify your alternative address.
  • Step 5: Click “Save” to confirm changes.



How to remove an alternative email address

  • Step 1: Click on your profile avatar in the top-right corner.
  • Step 2: Select “Personal Settings” from the dropdown menu.
  • Step 3: On the Personal Settings page, click “Edit Profile”.
  • Step 4: In the list of email addresses, click the “X” button next to the alternative email you want to remove.
  • Step 5: Click “Save” to apply the changes.
