Pomodoro Technique

What is Pomodoro Technique?

The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method designed to improve focus and productivity by breaking work into intervals. Each interval, called a “Pomodoro,” consists of 25 minutes of focused work followed by a 5-minute break. After completing four Pomodoros, a longer break of 15–30 minutes is taken. This structure helps maintain concentration, reduce mental fatigue, and make large or daunting tasks more manageable.

The technique was created in the 1980s by Francesco Cirillo, who used a tomato-shaped kitchen timer (hence the name “Pomodoro”) to help him stay focused while studying. The method encourages you to group smaller tasks into a single Pomodoro or break larger tasks into multiple sessions, ensuring steady progress without burnout.

Now widely adopted across industries, the Pomodoro Technique is integrated into many time-tracking and productivity apps. Its simplicity and proven effectiveness make it one of the most popular strategies for maintaining consistent focus and combating procrastination.
